Faith in Action Service Projects

#1 Laundry Love/Share Your Soles
Saturday, July 25th 9 – 11 a.m.
12 – 15 adults or 7-8  families needed
Project Leader: Miki Costello
This project has two purposes. First, you will bring the used shoes that are collected for Share Your Soles to an assigned New Lenox or Joliet Laundromat to spiff them up. Second, while at the Laundromat you will be provided with quarters that can be used to pay for other customer’s loads of laundry as a gift an act of kindness.  This is a great project for kids to help with.  Register below.

#2 Trinity Homes Dinner & Game Night
10 – 15 volunteers needed
Week night TBD
We will be hosting a dinner, game and craft night at New Life for the clients at all the local Trinity Homes.  This is a great night for children and families to serve together. Register below.

#3 Car Ministry Oil Changes
6 volunteers needed
Saturday, July 19th, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Oil changes will be provided to recipients of Food Pantry.  You must have experience in changing oil on previous vehicles.  These oil changes will be done on the church premises.  Register below.
#4 Hands of Hope
Project Leader:  Karen Kobza
Wednesday July 22nd, 6 – 8 p.m.
Volunteers needed to do some light packing of products in their Joliet warehouse. This is a great project to do with family and small group.  The warehouse is located at 511 Oakleaf Ct, Unit C in Joliet.  (Nears Sam’s Club on Larkin.)

#5 Lawn and Yard Clean-up
20 – 30 volunteers needed  
Dates are flexible
We have been gathering the names of the people in our community that could use an extra helping hand. Consider the impact you may have in helping a single mom or elderly or disabled person with a simple yard clean-up such as mowing a yard, simple weeding and possible mulching, cleaning some gutters or cleaning a few windows. This can be a family of small group project.  Register below.

#6 Morningstar Mission Thrift Store 
10-20 volunteers needed 
Dates are flexible      
Morningstar Mission is an organization which provides food for the hungry, clothing for the needy, shelter for the homeless, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ for all. Volunteers needed throughout the week and on Saturday morning at the thrift stores in New Lenox and Joliet to stock shelves, sort donations, clean, or arrange merchandise.  Register below.

#7 Manhattan Friendship Garden
10 – 20 volunteers needed
Times and dates TBD for the week of July 19 – 25th
Help a local ministry with weeding and harvesting which serves the local community by donating fruits and vegetables to stock our local food pantries.  12820 W Bruns Rd, Manhattan.  Register below.
#8 Home Repairs 
10-15 volunteers needed
Throughout the week of July 19 – 25
Some minor and major home repairs to be done with the Operation Nehemiah Ministry.  3 Roofing jobs and some other light home repairs will be done throughout the week.  Register below.

#9 Women’s Prayer Walk
Monday July 20th, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Project Leaders: Jeanne Erfft and Michele Duff
Women All Together Loving the King!  We’ll be exercising our minds and our bodies.  We will pray as a large group and then walk in smaller groups.

Our mission:  to pray for our children, families, community and anything else that is near and dear to our hearts.

#10 Letters to Soldiers

Help encourage those who serve and have served our country through Operation Gratitude by writing some words of thanks and making some cards.

#11 Silver Cross Care Bags

Project Leader:  Amy Harold

We will be providing gifts bags to the patients going through rehab and recovery. We are in need of word searches, puzzles, crosswords, sodukus, reading materials, pens and pencils, crayons, decks of cards, travel scrabble and probably other small travel games.
